Ingredients
1
cup
unsalted butter
1
cup
granulated sugar
1
cup
brown sugar, packed
4
large
eggs
1
tablespoon
vanilla extract
1
cup
all-purpose flour
1
cup
unsweetened cocoa powder
1
teaspoon
baking powder
1
teaspoon
salt
2
tablespoons
brewed espresso
1
cup
semi-sweet chocolate chips
½
cup
walnuts, chopped (optional)
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
In a large saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Remove from heat and stir in the granulated sugar and brown sugar until well combined.
Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract and brewed espresso until fully incorporated.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
Fold in the chocolate chips and chopped walnuts, if using.
Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly.
Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs (not wet batter).
Allow the brownies to cool in the pan for at least 20 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Once cooled, cut into squares and serve.
Notes
Dust with powdered sugar before serving and add a scoop of vanilla ice cream on the side for an indulgent treat.
